The latest statistics show that 1 in 68 children are identified with autism spectrum disorder.
ASD is almost 5 times more common among boys (1 in 42) than among girls (1 in 189).
There aren’t any specific scientific reasons WHY this is the case; at least not any that have make me understand the numbers any better. But, I do know that Arizona is often one of a handful of girls in her various interventions, social skills groups and other therapeutic settings (school included).
It’s always so fun to meet and connect with fellow autism Moms, but when I find out they have a daughter on the spectrum, it bring an instant camaraderie. Arizona loves being around girls and it’s an extra perk when it’s within her autism community.
